by - Monday, February 22, 2016

Our next stop was Dongdaemun!
We had free time here for hours.
I and Tere had missions to take photos of DDP from 9th floor of Lotte Fitin.
Others of our English team went shopping at department stores
around there such as Doota, Migliore, aM pM

Christmas Decoration was up here in front of Doota (두산타워)!
At Doota, there are famous Korean designers' second brand shops,
and a number of shops by designers who have won fashion designer contests.

Seoul City Bus Tour

Next time I hope I will have a chance to take this bus around Seoul!
I was also trying to find K-smile logo/banner
on Seoul City Bus but I could not find it.

Our mission was over there!

While walking to Lotte Fitin,
we were trying to search for Seoul Tourist Police
that we had a mission to take a photo with them.
However, we could not located where they were.
We decided to move on and
hope we could meet them in Myeongdong tomorrow instead.

But I met 2PM again along the way. :P

When you step into the elevator at Lotte Fitin, you're gonna meet Kim Soohyun.

Last time I went there, the staff asked me to buy K-live ticket for entering the terrace
and came back on the next day since on that day they have GOT7 fansign event.
I have not known that there is a rule that only K-live customers can enter the terrace
because in Klive website and in forums, it says nothing about ticket.

I had tried my luck again.
This time I saw a sign saying said
'The terrace is for K-live cafe customer or Hologram concerts only'.

We were hesitating in front of the terrace for a few minutes
then a Klive staff approached us with smile and said something like
“Do you want to go out there?” with her body language.

We feel very thankful to her.
Finally, our mission was completed after I had tried many times.
After we took photos, we said thank you so much to her,
asked her name and took photos with her.
정다슬씨, 감사합니다.

I voted her to be one of my K-smile Queen of this trip.
This was one of our missions to do.
Taking photo with Korean people who are nice to you during the Korea trip.

Here are the photos I had taken.
It might not look great because I used my compact camera.

Then we move to Jeongdong Theater (정동극장)
to have our Janggu lesson and watch MISO, the traditional musical !

Jeongdong Theater is historically significant in that
it represents the restored Wongaksa, the first modern theater in Korea.

This is one thing that I want Thailand will use the paper as a cup
instead of using a paper cup which is taking more space in a bin.

Our first activity here is
learning how to play Janggu (장구, a traditional Korean drum) !!

Take a close up look to Janggu .
Janggu is consists of an hourglass-shaped body with two heads made from animal skin.
The two heads produce sounds of different pitch and timbre,
which when played together are believed to represent the harmony of man and woman.

Our 선생님 (teacher) for today class

Our TA
He was looking around to see if anyone could follow the teacher correctly.

Right Hand: 열채 (yeolchae) = bamboo stick
All fingers wrap around the bamboo stick and hold it 45 degree upward.

Left Hand : 궁채 (gungchae) = wooden mallet
Holding the mallet by using the thumb, index, middle,
and third finger in a downward vertical direction.

There are four rhythms you have to remember the sound and how to make it:
덩 Deong
더 The/Tta
쿵 Kung/Gung
라 Ra/Da/reu/rrr

I am sorry that I had no time to take photos step by step
since I was busy learning and following what the teacher said.

We, all 3 teams, English, Japanese and Taiwanese teams
were learning this class together.
It was so much fun to learn this.
Our class were full of laugh because we were trying to follow our teacher
but sometimes we fail. :P
Our guides were doing their job so well for translating what the teacher said
in Korean to English, Japanese and Chinese.

They will give you a certificate after you completed the lesson.

After that we had a short break and got the souvenirs:
MISO photobook, folder and cap.

Now it times for what I had been waiting for !
 “MISO : Baebijang-jeon”  !!!!

I had a chance to watch JUMP and I really loved it so much.
Thus I was anticipating to watch this show.

There are subtitle offered in English, Japanese and Chinese
so no need to worry that you won't understand.
To tell you the truth, you can enjoy this performance without reading subtitle.
The show itself is really amazing
and easy to understand with their body language of performers.
I love Samulnori (사물놀이) and Pansori (판소리) parts.

Pansori is the art of lyrical storytelling
and has become one of Korea's best known traditional performing arts

Here is some information about MISO story you might want to know.
It's from Jeongdong Theater Website

They are not allow to take a photo.
I decide to use photos I can find from the Internet.
(Actually I had tried to take photos from MISO photobook I've got
but it turned out not good so ...)
